Busy Summer!

Hello! Busy, Busy! This is turning out to be keeping me more busy than I expected! This is Ashley and I on opening day(I know it is two months late). I will take pics of the front as it looks right now; the flowers are just gorgeous! We have two antique rockers that sit on the porch now.

I had to share this photo. My hubby and I went on vacation a couple of weeks ago and this is one of my creations: gourmet italian, garlic, cheese bread with guacamole spread on it with yummy tiny orange tomatoes on top. It may look weird, but oh, it was soooo good!

One last pic. We have a very cheap old camper trailer that we share with the family, and of course it has orange and green everything(70's), so I gave it a temporary makeover. If I was going to spend over a week in that thing, it was going to be relaxing! This is what I did with the bed. Lots of fluffy pillows and pink velvet over the window with a great silicone bulb strand that we carry in the store.

Another big reason I haven't blogged in a while is that we have been having a very hard year and it has come to a head this last month. My hubby is on short term disability(hurt at work) and we don't know if he is going to be able to go back to work. As a result, we are losing our house. We have an old place at my parents that we are moving into; let's just say I'm not overly excited. God has a plan for us though, and there is a reason all of this is happening. For years now my imagination has been stale because of the hardships we have faced and I am finally feeling it come alive again. I'm looking forward to redoing the house we have to move into. It is going to be a challenge, though. I am going to start documenting on here the before pics. and of course after. My studio is also getting moved and it is getting a much needed overhaul itself and I will be sharing those as well. I also think this will help my process of healing and moving on. There are many new things in my future and praise God for them all! TTFN, Jeri

We're Open!

Well, we're open! For 2 weeks now. I am so ashamed for not putting pics. on here for over a month! We were just a little busy! But here are some pics. for now and I will be putting more on regular now. This is the entrance to the Room For Hope. This is more of a before picture. The process of getting the display cases in and such. We decided instead of building shelves, we would use the bunches of old crates we found in the barn to display all the great stuff we found in the barn while cleaning it out.

This is actual opening day! My dear friend Dixie was our first customer, and so far she has been the first one here every Thursday! BTW, doesn't Oxford look great up in the barn? It has been great using him.

A little peak at one of my favorite displays. Ashley made the banner. We both embellished the shelf. It is one of the junky gross things we found in the barn while cleaning and we just gave it some love.

This is another thing I am personally very proud of. When Ashley and I were painting all these old doors everyone in the family thought I was crazy when I said I was making a wall made of doors. My oldest son and I put it altogether in one afternoon when everyone was gone and it turned out better than I even thought it would! This is the wall that seperates the antique/produce shop and the Room For Hope. It is so exciting when someone comes in and says how beautiful it is when I remember what it used to look like! It also makes all that hard work worth it. I'm very excited where the future is going to take us! Keep checking back as we will have more pics and we will be listing more on etsy real soon!

Finally!

Well, I finally have been able to work on making things for the barn! I "make" a lot of things, but what I really enjoy is making something that was UGLY into something beautiful. This letter holder was one of those UGLY things. I've had these roses for a while, I just embellished them with glitter and ribbon(which makes almost anything better!).

And yes, that IS sunshine gleaming into the picture! It was a gorgeous day! Today not so much, though. Raining!

This I had fun making. This will probably go in our etsy shop once we have enough items made to list, so stay tuned!

Now on to something a little more comical; that is my BLACK LAB laying in my flower box outside my studio!!!

Welcome....

to White Barn Boutique & Farm Market! We are very excited about this new venture! Let me tell you a bit about us and the Barn-we are sister-in-laws who live right around the corner from each other and inbetween us is my parents very old big white barn! We got to thinking..hmmm....why are we looking for an expensive store front that has no character when we have an old barn that is just begging to be used again? Yes, it needs work, clean up, etc., but oh, what it could be!! Ashley is going to sell farm market items-pumpkins, corn, and such, and she also is making soy candles. I am going to have vintage and antique as well as some handmade items. One of the big things we are planning is the part of the barn I am naming "Room for Hope". This room is going to have clothing, kitchen items, toys, etc. in it-mostly used, but in good shape, and everything in this room is donation only. In other words, when you're done shopping, you just put in the box what you want to pay. Every month a generous amount of these donations will go to a charity that Ashley and I choose. Our small way of helping out in our little corner of the world! Anyhoo, that's the scoop! Our little dream in a nutshell! Stay tuned for more updates coming soon! TTFN,
